Employment Orientation Sessions
Our employment sessions give you an opportunity to learn about the
different programs and services available to you in the community.
At the end of the session you will have an opportunity to ask relevent
questions. If you are EI-eligible* you will have the option of registering
to work one-to-one with an experienced career consultant to address
your employment needs.
Currently reveiving Employment Insurance Benefits or
Have received Employment Insurance within the last 3 years or
Have received paternity or maternity leave benefits under Employment
Insurance within the last 5 years
Attend the one-day Survivability® workshop (held once per
month) to find the answers to these questions. A trained Survivability
Leader will facilitate this interactive session.

Job Search Workshops
Learn skills to look for work in today's job market. These one-day
workshops are designed for job seekers who enjoy a fast-paced learning

- How to tap into the "hidden" jobs
- Current employment trends
- Identifying job leads
- Prepare for the job interview
- What employers are looking for
- Practice difficult questions
Researching On The Internet
This 3 hour session takes a more advanced look at job search on
Starting with a search for a description of your career field using
NOC codes, you can use this information to learn about related fields,
then find labour market trends for your field including future outlooks
and current wages. Also covered is:
- Setting up job bank search profiles
- Researching companies within your field
- How to research training and education requirements for your

This is a fun and interactive 1/2 day workshop in which you will discover
your own "True Colors".
The more you learn about yourself and how you impact others, the better
you can market yourself to appropriate employers.

This half-day interactive workshop includes a highly realistic mini-project
with all the challenges of a real-life Canadian project or business

Skill Development Options
In this half-day workshop,
explore different ways to develop your skills; learn how to research
training schools; learn about HRDC guidelines for training and implications
while on E.I. Please speak to your Employment Consultant if you

Resource Centre Workshops:
Basic Introduction to Microsoft Word
If you have limited computer experience, this workshop is for you.
This 2-hour introduction to computers and Microsoft Word, is made
to help you learn the basics of using this word-processing program.
You will learn how to open, save, and close files, how use formatting
on your documents, and other basic functions.
Internet for Job Search
This 2-hour introductory Internet workshop is designed to teach
you how to use the Internet to look for jobs, search job banks,
find company information, read news and more online.
Note: For those who have never used a computer, we recommend
you attend the Basic Introduction to Microsoft Word workshop first
Attend this workshop to learn how to use email to send and receive
mail, and how to attach files. In the hour and a half, you will
sign up for your own free web-based email account and learn how
to use the different features available.
